This is not extra credit, however. It cannot change a failing grade (F) into an A. These activities can, however, help you deepen your knowledge about Utah and improve your understanding of the work we do in class. |

1) Complete this webquest on the Utah Geological Survey website.
2) Watch the following video on PBS: The Last Extinction (click the Watch Online link above the picture of the Mammoth). This program explains a new theory of what caused the Ice Age extiction. Write a one page summary of the program. Be sure to include information about the three theories that the program describes to explain why the Ice Age megafauna (saber-tooth cats, mammoths, etc.) might have gone extinct. Then explain which theory or theories you think is the best explanation of what killed these animals, explaining your thinking with specific pieces of evidence from the video. Always ask your parents if it is okay to watch the show before you begin. |
